Summer Activities


Enjoy summer at a county park. Warm weather activities include:

seven president's park

Guarded Swimming at Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park
Ocean Avenue, Long Branch       
Lifeguards are on duty daily through September 7. Guarded swimming hours are from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. Remember, swimming is only permitted when lifeguards are present. Park access passes for 2015 are currently available. Prices are:

  • $45 for ages 13 to 17
  • $70 for adults 18 to 64
  • $25 for adults 65 and older 

Weekday park access passes are $8 for individuals 18 years old and over; those 17 and under are free. On weekends and holidays, the cost is $8 for individuals 13 and over; those 12 and younger are free. The cost of a daily parking pass is $8.

Season parking passes are $70. Park access passes and parking passes are needed through Monday, September 7.
 
Both daily and seasonal park access passes are available for purchase at the Seven Presidents pavilion located on Ocean Avenue in Long Branch from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.  For further information, call 732-229-0924 during the beach season.


Golf   
Tee off this summer at one of the Park System golf courses. Whether you’re just getting started or are an old pro, the Park System has a golf course that’s sure to be a perfect match. Choose among Bel-Aire, Wall; Charleston Springs, Millstone; Hominy Hill, Colts Neck; Howell Park, Howell; Pine Brook, Manalapan; and Shark River, Neptune. Seining at the Bayshore

Seining at Bayshore Waterfront Park
Port Monmouth Road, Port Monmouth  
Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays, June 22 through August 21
11 a.m.-12 p.m. 
 

Discover a variety of fish, crabs, and other creatures of the bay as we pull a 30' seine net though the calm waters of Sandy Hook Bay. It will be a fun time for everyone as we discover what lives in the bay. Closed-toe shoes are required. Meet on the beach. Open to all ages, under 18 with adult, the program is designed for individuals and families, not groups. Sunscreen and drinking water are recommended.

Manasquan Reservoir

Rent a Rowboat or Kayak     
Motor boat rentals from April 1-October 31 
Kayak rentals from May 1-October 31
At the Manasquan Reservoir Visitor Center, park patrons ages 18 and older can rent rowboats (1-hr $12.62 or 4-hrs $35.51); electric motor powered rowboats (4-hrs $46.26); and kayaks (1-hr single person $14.49 or 1-hr double person $20.56). Cash or checks only. A $10.00 deposit is required for 1 hour rental; $20 deposit required for 4 hour rental. (Prices do not include sales tax.)

Sailboat Rentals  
Saturday, June 13-Sunday, September 13 
Are you a sailor without a boat? The Park System has a limited number of 15’ American (2/3 people) and 12’ Laser Pico (single adult/1 child) sailboats available for rent. Renters must provide a Red Cross, US Sailing or Monmouth County Park System sailing card. The cost is $55 per boat for 2 hour rental; cash or check only.

Turkey Swamp Park  
Georgia Road, Freehold 

Rent a Kayak, Canoe or Paddleboat   
Boat rentals are available weekends only from May 1 through mid-June, daily through Labor Day, and weekends only again from Labor Day through Columbus Day.   
Boat rental hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The cost is $12.62 an hour. Each additional 15 minutes is $4.44. A refundable deposit of $10 is required for individual rental. Group rentals are available; deposit of $50 is required. (Prices do not include sales tax.)

Boat Tours at the Manasquan Reservoir
Windeler Road, Howell    
Enjoy a 45-minute boat tour on the beautiful Manasquan Reservoir. Tours are narrated by Park System Naturalists and include opportunities to view local wildlife including turtles, egrets, herons, ospreys, and perhaps a Bald Eagle!  Life-jackets required (provided). Please Note: Tours are both weather and water level dependent.  The schedule is as follows:

May 2- October 12
2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m. & 5 p.m.

Wednesday Tours  
July 1-August 26
2 p.m., 3 p.m. & 4 p.m.

July 3 at 6:30 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.; August 7 at 6:30 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.; September 4 at 5:30 p.m. & 6:30 p.m.

The cost is $4 per child, 12 and under and $6 per adult.
