Basket Making Workshops


Basket weaving is an ancient craft that uses natural materials to make practical things. This series is designed to offer the beginner basket weaver a variety of styles and techniques. Please bring to class shears or scissors, clip clothes pins or larger clips, a small flat screwdriver or an awl. Fees for materials (listed below) are to be paid the day of class to instructor Martha Costain.

All Levels One 5-Hr Session
Japanese Weave Berry Basket
Small, 4”x 4” basket woven in a twill Japanese weave (over one, under two) and features a 6 ½” wooden swing handle. Suitable for beginners. Woven in flat reed. Materials fee: $16

Oblong bread basket to use for the holidays or give as a gift. Woven on a 4 ½” x 15” wood base. Beginners welcome. Materials fee: $18 payable to instructor
