Special Hike to the Pine Barrens

(ages 55 and up)

Explore the Pine Barrens! Our first stop will be Franklin Parker State Park which is operated by the NJ Conservation Foundation. We will walk by streams and lakes and a former cranberry bog. There are some rare, indigenous flowers growing along one trail. A picnic lunch will be had in Chatsworth. Afterwards we will continue to Wells Mills which is the largest county park in Ocean County. We walk briefly along a lake and on a boardwalk through a peat bog with Atlantic White Cedars. These are mostly flat trails with some sandy spots. Please pack a lunch.
