Basket Making Workshops

(adults)

Basket weaving is an ancient craft that uses natural materials to make practical things. This series is designed to offer the beginner basket weaver a variety of styles and techniques. Please bring to class shears or scissors, clip clothes pins or larger clips, a small flat screwdriver or an awl. Fees for materials (listed below) are to be paid the day of class to instructor Martha Costain.

Market Basket
This Traditional “ going to market” basket was used in New Jersey. Our basket is woven using a mold. Select the traditional bonnet handle or bushels handle or carrier handle. Overall size 7wx14lx9h.Material fee $40. Includes material, mold rental and use of tool needed to make basket.

Jelly Jar Baskets
Just want to make a basket? How about two? One for you and one to give away (well maybe). We will complete two jelly jar baskets while discussing the fundamentals of basket making. This adorable basket is great for all levels and is a great project for when you just feel like making a basket. Overall size 3x3x4 (measurement does not include the handle height). Materials Fee: $18.
