Manasquan River Canoe & Kayak Race
Saturday, May 10 at 8:30am
Howell Park Golf Course, Preventorium Road, Howell
Experienced competitive & non-competitive paddlers are urged to participate in the 37th annual event. Course covers a 5.8 mile Class-I section of the Manasquan River. Varied widths, depths, twists, turns & portages make this a challenging route.

Outdoor Adventure Expo
Sunday, May 18 from 11am-5pm
Turkey Swamp Park
, Freehold
Discover the many wonderful outdoor recreational opportunities that abound in Monmouth County. Activities during this expo for the “outdoors” person (or those interested in becoming one) include rock climbing, snake shows, and hands-on demonstrations. Try your hand at paddling a canoe or kayak, compete in the fishing derby (for children), or go on a nature hike. (free)

National Trails Day

Saturday, June 7 at 9am
Celebrate National Trails Day by lending the Park System a hand during trail construction projects. Park locations will be announced in March. Persons with building skills are needed, but all are welcome! Park System staff will be on hand to supervise and help. Interested individuals should wear long pants, long sleeves, work shoes, and work gloves. Call (732) 842-4000 ext 4283 if interested or email volunteer@monmouthcountyparks.com.

Summer Theatre presents The Pajama Game
Friday-Sunday June 22 - July 1
Friday & Saturday at 8pm; Sunday at 7pm

Thompson Park, Lincroft
Bring the whole family to experience a Broadway classic The Pajama Game. The scenery, music, costumes, acting and dancing in the rustic and intimate setting of “The Barn” are sure to make you feel like you’re part of the story. (fee)

Harvest Home Festival

Historic Longstreet Farm, Holmdel
This 1890s style country fair features exhibits, wagon rides, games, and live entertainment. See on-going demonstrations of quilting, rug braiding, hooking, and lace making by authentically costumed staff. Other events for the day include home and garden style competition. Free admission. Timberbrook Triathlon
Saturday, October 4 at 8:30am
Manasquan Reservoir, Howell
Something different for athletes who like a challenge. First, complete a 3 mile run.. Next, canoe or kayak 2 miles. Then, you finish as you take your mountain bike for a 5 mile ride. The natural scenery of this 1,200 acre facility provides an exceptional setting for the event. (fee)

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the past while learning about the evolution of this small village, plantation, and country estate through hands-on activities. Historic Walnford features a late 19th century gristmill, the 18th century Waln family home, a carriage house, and an assortment of farm buildings. 2008 Todd Half-Marathon
Sunday, March 2, 9am start
13.1 mile course loops through the residential sections of Lincroft, Holmdel and Colts Neck. $25 pre-registration closes February 22nd and post registraion accepted day of race and costs $30.
Race starts and finishes at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft.

Manasquan Reservoir Environmental Center, Howell
This annual event features fun and enviro-savvy nature activities such as birdhouse building, reptile shows, and recycled crafts. The celebration also features interactive exhibits and an array of local environmental groups. Boat tours (for a fee) will leave from the Visitor Center on Windeler Road. (free)

Step back into the 1890s and experience Victorian era farm life. This annual demonstration allows visitors to appreciate the work of an old-fashioned sheep shearer and her border collies. (free)
