The Park System has partnered with The First Tee of Monmouth and Ocean to provide unique youth golf classes at Charleston Springs Golf Course.
These classes introduce kids to the great game of golf while teaching them The First Tee Nine Core Values – honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment.
The First Tee helps kids to become good golfers, make friends, and to be good people both on and off the course. From age 7 through 18, youth progress through different levels by demonstrating The First Tee Nine Core Values, life and golf skills as well as passing an assessment.
The First Tee Levels:
PLAYer – Tee up for the first time and learn the game of golf and The First Tee’s Code of Conduct.
Par – Focus on interpersonal and self-management skills on and off the course.
Birdie – Emphasis on setting goals and making them a reality.
Eagle – Learn resilience, conflict resolution, and future planning.
Ace – Put it all together and hone in on setting goals, career education, and giving back to the community.
The First Tee coaches are trained to create positive relationships that inspire youth to discover their individual potential. Coaches attend rigorous training in The First Tee curriculum, life skills experience and youth development focused programming.
