Join a Park System Naturalist at Bayshore Waterfront Park, Port Monmouth, for this spectacular natural event. The Eta Aquarids is an above average shower, capable of producing up to 60 meteors per hour at its peak. Most of the activity is seen in the Southern Hemisphere. In the Northern Hemisphere, the rate can reach about 30 meteors per hour. The new moon will ensure dark skies this year for what could be an excellent show. FREE!

Get hooked on fishing while competing in the Park System's second annual saltwater fishing derby at Bayshore Waterfront Park, Port Monmouth. Fun for the whole family, this derby is open to beginners as well as experienced anglers. No experience in saltwater fishing? Let us teach you how to rig and cast your fishing pole. Participants must supply their own fishing poles, tackle and bait. Prizes are awarded for the longest fish caught in three different age categories. Only fishing from the beach is allowed. Pre-registration is suggested; however, walk-ins are welcome. The cost is $8 per person; $4 each additional person; cash or check only on day of.

Boat Tours of the Manasquan Reservoir

These 45-minute tours of the Manasquan Reservoir, Howell, are narrated by Park System Naturalists and include opportunities to view local wildlife. The cost is $6 per adult and $4 per child, 12 and under. Please call to confirm schedule as tours are both weather and water level dependent. All tours leave from the Visitor Center.
