Discover the thrill of the great outdoors. Outdoor Adventures programs provide you the chance to explore a variety of recreational activities, such as hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, kayaking, and so much more. Through our diverse programs we strive to create opportunities for participants to develop leadership, team building, and critical thinking skills all while enjoying the outdoors.

Zip Line All requested programs must be arranged at least four weeks in advance. It is advisable to schedule programs six to eight months prior to your desired date. Before calling, it is best to have several dates, times and activities in mind. Although no rain dates may be reserved, every effort will be made to accommodate your group in the event of inclement weather.

  • To arrange programs, submit the Program Reservation Request form (below) and email to Ann Marie Osnato, the Group Program Coordinator, or call at 732-842-4000, ext. 4240. Reservations can be made Monday through Friday.
  • Note minimum and maximum number and age of participants where indicated to determine if your group can be accommodated. For programs that have a per person charge, groups that do not reach the minimum will be billed for the minimum number of participants as noted.
  • Your program confirmation will be mailed within two weeks of booking your program. Please verify date, time, number of students, and location.
  • A limited number of supervising adults may attend the program for free; all others will be charged the per person fee. Only registered participants and supervising adults can take part in the activities.
  • All groups will be billed after the program is completed. Please do not bring money the day of the program or submit payment before the program has taken place.
  • If the program you have selected is three or more hours in length, please bring a non-perishable lunch. Picnic tables are available at most facilities on a first come basis.
  • All programs require participants and supervising adults to sign release forms and assumption & acknowledgement of risk forms (below) prior to participating and wear close-toed, close-heeled shoes. Failure to comply will result in being unable to participate in the activity.
  • In the interest of safety, Outdoor Adventures staff decisions are final.
  • Please note that prices are subject to change.

These goal-oriented programs help build social skills and confidence in an atmosphere of fun and excitement.  Groups who work together toward a common goal also learn vital teamwork skills as they enjoy nature and fresh air.  Spring and fall programs fill quickly and space is limited. Please reserve your date as early as possible. Programs are available at:

Offerings include:

1.  Outdoor Adventure Challenge Courses   This experiential adventure features activities that involve some risk-taking.  Participants may be accommodated regardless of age, physical limitation or ability.  Rope activities involve climbing on a maze of ropes/cables located in trees and on poles; the Climbing Wall is a 35 ft. wooden surface with climbing holds made of resin to simulate rock.      

a. Low Ropes Challenge Course - Thompson Park     
This course has approximately 30 activities, ranging from warm-ups to complex climbing challenges held 1 to 10 feet off the ground.

  • Ages 10 and up 4 – 6 hours
  • Group Size: 36 MAX/8 MIN

 b. High Ropes Challenge Course - Thompson Park     
This course has 3 different climbing challenges, held 30 feet off the ground.  Groups   
 should complete Cooperative Games or a Low Rope Challenge course prior to this 

  • Ages 12 and up 4 – 6 hours
  • Group Size: 24 MAX/8 MIN

c. Climbing Wall Challenge - Thompson Park    
Participants are belayed from the ground as they work on building confidence and
 physical coordination with the support of their team.

  • Ages 10 and up 1 – 2 hours 
  • Group Size: 12 MAX/8 MIN

2.  Other Group Challenge Activities

a. Icebreaker Activities  - Thompson Park or your choice of site 
Designed for groups who want to increase their comfort level—these activities are about
having fun!  If your high-energy group is looking for some non-competitive, indoor/outdoor activities, this is the program for them. 

  • Ages 8 and up
  • 1 – 2 hours
  • Group Size: 45 MAX/8 MIN

b. Cooperative Games  - Thompson Park or your choice of site
Participants get a chance to develop skills that support effective teamwork, such as trust-building and problem-solving. Designed for groups that do not have a lot of time.

  • Ages 10 and up
  • 2 hours
  • Group Size: 36 MAX/8 MIN

3.  Clinics, Samplers and More          

a. Canoe Clinics  -  Any county park with lake access
This introduction to basic canoeing covers safe boating habits and techniques.

  • Ages 8 and up
  • 1 – 2 hours
  • Group Size: 24 MAX/8 MIN   

b. Cross Country Ski Clinics  -  Thompson Park 
This introduction to basic cross-country skiing can be conducted with or without snow. 

  • Ages 8 and up 
  • 1 – 2 hours 
  • Group Size: 12 MAX/8 MIN  

c. Snow Shoe Clinics   -  Thompson Park
Learn the basics of snow shoeing while enjoying nature at the same time. Requires snow.

  • Ages 8 and up 
  • 1 – 2 hours 
  • Group Size: 12 MAX/8 MIN   

d. Samplers  -   Thompson Park
Try a variety of different activities; the Summer Sampler is a canoe clinic, hiking and games; the Winter Sampler is a cross country ski or snow shoe clinic, plus games.

  • Ages 10 and up
  • 3 – 4 hours 
  • Group Size: 36 MAX/8 MIN  

e.  Archery    -   Thompson Park     
This introduction to basic archery covers proper shooting stance and archery range rules 
and safety.

  • Ages 8 and up 
  • 1 – 2 hours 
  • Group Size: 15 MAX/8 MIN
